Aaron is a two-time world champion cyclist and three-time Olympian who has been a permanent fixture in both the track and road scenes since joining the national high performance squad in 2010.
An endurance rider, Aaron was part of the bronze medal winning team pursuit at the London 2012 Olympics, before following it up a year later with victory in the gruelling multi-event Omnium at the UCI World Championships in Belarus.
He continued his form into the 2014 season with two bronze medals at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games. Following the Rio Olympics, where the team pursuit finished 4th, Aaron made a switch to road cycling and racing in the ultra-competitive European continental competitions.. Since 2019, Aaron has combined both track and road racing. He made a memorable return to the velodrome at the World Cup at home in Cambridge by teaming up with Campbell Stewart to win the Madison. He’s also had success on home roads, winning the 2019 NZ Cycle Classic and finishing runner up in 2020 and claiming the gruelling Tour of Southland title in 2016 and 2020.
After heartbreak in Tokyo Olympics, he bounced back to claim four Gold Medals at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games, the only New Zealander. More recently Aaron become World Champion in the Points Race at the World Cycling Champs in Scotland, along with two Bronze medals in the Madison and Team Pursuit.
